Platform: PC/PS4/XB1 Release Date: February 27th, 2018 Far Cry 5 is an open world action-adventure first-person shooter video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows. It is the successor to the 2014 video game Far Cry 4, and the fifth main installment in the Far Cry series. The game will take place in modern-day Hope County, Montana, a departure from the series' exotic, volatile, Third-World environments. | Videos |
What do you guys think about this? After reading this comment, I'm not getting high hopes.

Curious about the setting. I loved 3 and 4 was kind of a 3.5 but cool nonetheless.

This almost looks like a western frontier type setting. Wouldn't be surprised at a Far Cry game set in a different time after Primal either.

let's just hope they don't recycle FC4 map another time, the dev time seems very short

Yeah I actually heard rumors that it has that kinda setting, someone compared it to Red Dead Redemption. (well the setting) I don't know I'm kinda done with the series, have been after part 3 because the recycling was just to much for me.

Well, usually quite a bit of truth to these rumors so that about settles it! What do you mean by recycling?

Well, usually quite a bit of truth to these rumors so that about settles it! What do you mean by recycling? Recycling sidemissions, some parts of the story (these drug infused hallucinations, both part in FC 3 and FC 4), the gameplay and I even think that the antagonist from 3 & 4 are quite similar in their behaviour. I just feel fucked by Ubisoft if they take so much money and time to develop a "new" game and it just feels like the one before.

They also recycled the map from FC4 and basically just put new stuff on it in Primal. Rivers were in the same spots, some roads...etc.
I liked FC4 a lot, but the games are all basically the same. In the link that Liggy posted the idea of a religious cult sounds interesting and unique, but if it turns out to be the same game just with that story count me out.
Not sure if you guys follow horror games but Outlast II just took on religious cult stuff pretty heavily and they did NOT shy away from the religion angle. Now, that's not a mainstream AAA title, but it's a mainstream horror title nonetheless.

I thought you were referring to content being recycled over and over in just Far Cry 3 and I was like huh? the side missions were generic but that game felt pretty original at the time. I agree completely about Far Cry 4 recycling from 3 though. That's why I put down 4 pretty quickly and just waited for Primal, which I thought was very original.

Also some people are saying that it will actually be modern day, not an "old" west.

Oh wow that sounds kinda cool, keen to see how that plays out. Same on Far Cry 4. I'll admit I was initially hyped because I heard there were Yetis but that's like a separate DLC or something? Lame. My buddy has family in Montana and vacations there like every year I think, he's always talking about how dope the woods are there and stuff. He's got his fingers crossed that 5 will basically be No Country for Old Men in Montana lol.

Still pissed off I bought Farcry 4 and the disc didn't work. Loved 3 a lot though.
