Okay, I’m kinda bored right now but something that I sometimes wonder is what you guys like and don’t like, genre/style-wise. Although I definitely have strong ideas of many of you and your tastes, I find it fun to see this kind of thing. Also it might help me or others to direct their music suggestion posts better to the community. Let’s try listing styles/genres that we like and don’t like in this thread. If for nothing else, I think it’s fun to read these.
Favorite styles/genres/subgenres: Death Metal Thrash Metal Speed Metal Traditional Heavy Metal (including NWOBHM and Epic Heavy Metal) Grindcore Doom Metal
Least Favorites: Black Metal (I know, I used to be a big fan. Got old got me a couple years ago) Progressive and Progressive-Anything Metal Sludge Metal Hardcore Deathcore Anything-core (except for grindcore) Symphonic-Anything Metal (I find it to be cheesy)

My musical journey has had a lot of phases weaved in an out, some genres had some lingering effects and some I don't even fucks with anymore. I'm not going to get super into the subgenre listing, so things like Death Metal are going to include all of it's subgenres. Also some genres have a lot of glaring omission bands, because I'm weird.
Stuff I still listen to: Prog Metal (with or without vocalists) Good metalcore/post hardcore Ska Punk Pop Punk Hardcore Reggae Random ass albums from the list of stuff I really don't listen to anymore
Stuff I used to listen to heavily that now has some lingering albums in my playlist: Grindcore Death Metal Motown Folk Metal Math Metal Thrash NWOBHM NWOAHM Nu Metal (although nostalgia has been creeping 2000's nu metal up the list)
Stuff I tried to get into but couldn't despite my best efforts, not on the hate list: Black Metal Emo Screamo Power Metal Rap that isn't mumble rap Deathcore Stoner Metal
The hate list, turn it off I want nothing to fucking do with it Bad metalcore/post hardcore EDM mumble rap Doom Metal Grunge Green Day
Yes: 80s music- damn near all of it. Thrashy death metal type stuff. Some metallic hardcore, some melodic hardcore. Progressive metal only for Protest The Hero. Whatever the fuck you call HORSE the Band. Classic rock stuff.
No: Black metal, doom metal, sludge metal, etc. Country music.
I like music in metal/punk/hardcore to be simple and fast. I hate doom metal, love black metal, and the only hardcore I fuck with is bands like Poison Idea, not the modern basically metalcore hardcore. Also when it comes to death metal I like knuckle dragging shit a lot but can’t stand the complex bands.
I also love hip hop and country, but I can’t stand the “philosophical” rappers like Aesop rock and I fuckin hate Eminem. My all time favorite rapper is Gucci mane but the one I think is the best is Andre 3000. For country I don’t like it past like the 80s when it became pop country outside of a handful of artists.
