I would like to propose that we do a week of no-shoutbox once a quarter, the next being the last week of December (24th - 31st perhaps?)
I like what it did for the posting bump, but I don't want to live without it forever. 4 weeks out of 52 isn't much to ask for, especially just once every 3 months. A week is long enough that users will likely be more motivated to contribute to threads, but not so long that we risk lowering the traffic of the SB Devout. Thoughts?

My first ever shoutbox post in TDM, despite being a regular here and on the previous iteration of TDM for a few years now, was this year. I don’t feel there is much significance in shoutbox posting for me. After a while, you can’t access the history in a way that it is easy to establish topic continuity, not to mention it isn’t organized. If it were up to me, the shoutbox would still be dead, and wouldn’t return. Given that I don’t see that happening, I can somewhat support the decision to periodically shut it down, but I’d be more supportive of a One week per month shutdown of the shoutbox.
