Question: Is that crossbow weapon a joke? I'm probably dumb, but I shot some pellets at the phantoms and they just bounce off haha I think the game says it's a toy? If so, what is it supposed to do? I'm sure I missed something when I unlocked it as I may have skipped that little info screen. Yeah, it's just foam darts. I forget what the room was, either a medical room or security room but I couldn't access it from the outside. So I noticed a button to the door inside the room, shot through an opening in the front window and opened it. I think that's what it's mainly used for, to access things like computer screens and door buttons.

I'm 8 hours in and have hit a sequence of areas where I can't create my own ammo + medkits. It's getting tough to make progress cause I have to get through areas flawlessly. That or kill a few enemies and save (rinse and repeat) until I find another spot to make my own stuff.

Somehow finished this already. Enjoyed it overall (especially how much agency you get in terms of traversing the levels and completing objectives), but the combat is awful. A lot of the enemies are really obnoxious and my weapons never felt all that satisfying to use.
Also, does anyone actually find this game scary? I've read a lot of stuff online about people who claim to not be able to play it at all because it's "too scary," but I didn't have that experience at all.

The only part that's made me jump so far has been the looking glass room in one of the doctor's offices. The one where you have to touch the dot and calibrate the screens.

I still haven't had a problem with combat, I wouldn't want my weapons to put down an enemy in 1 shot though. We're dealing with aliens and they should take more damage than humans. however, my pistol is a lot stronger than my shotty lmao. The game isn't shit your pants scary, but playing alone in the dark with headphones doesn't make it any better. I still jump a little when mimics pop outta no where too. I think im gonna be creeped when i game and have that Nightmare shit following me.

I never had any ammo for it because the droids and Phantoms could take four or five shots before dying. Maybe it would have been better with more of the purple Neuromods (really only used Morph and sometimes the psychic shock thing), but it always seemed like putting too many points into them would really hamstring you in terms of general progression. Weapon upgrades, inventory size, medkit efficiency, and hacking, at the very least, are much more essential imo.

I just read a post saying that shotguns are basically melee range. Makes sense too, I would shoot phantoms far away and barely any damage. The only time I noticed a lot was when I was literally in their face.
Even after several upgrades, I still use GLoo and pistol to take them out. I'm gonna have to replay the game a few times and try different approaches. I just use the mimic power and kinetic or w.e right now.

The game being scary really depends on what scares you. I feel like this game puts a lot of people in a headspace of being alone and not being able to trust anything around them. I know, personally, I feel anxious when I play this game and can only play for small bursts at a time. For someone who has similar issues with anxiety that may be enough to scare them from the game. I would say this game probably has a lot of the same feeling that the original Bioshock has. It isn't really a horror game per say but you're navigating a very scary world by yourself.

Well, I'm finally on vacation so I can finally enjoy this fucking game. I was holding off since I wanted to enjoy it, rather than play and have to sleep immediately.
One question though. Any tips for dealing with the Nightmare? I just loaded in a save to test out the new NVIDIA hotfix and the Nightmare is currently hunting me lol. I spent 5 minutes running around, trying to hide and think of a route but there's enemies everywhere.
Also, beta patch is now available on Steam.

Holy crap, IGN gave Prey a 4 because the reviewer ran into one of the game breaking bugs on PC. That seems a bit harsh, but I don't think I've played enough to run into any issues.

I just finished resetting the reactor on the ship and I can already this is one of my favorite games to come out in the past few years.
My only gripe is that on normal difficulty, it's way too easy. I've been swimming in medkits, food, ammo, and repair kits since pretty much the beginning of the game. The wrench and Q-Beam gun are OP.

Do people still use Gamespot or some shit? I haven't heard that name in years lmao. I tend to frequent IGN, Kotaku, and Gamespot and I'll be honest Gamespot has a lot of news those two platforms don't cover or don't provide as much detail on. I personally don't see them as super great for review though.

Currently backtracking around the lobby and trauma center scouring the places for organic material. The best way I've found to get it is to drag a bunch of corpses together and unleash a recycle grenade on them. Of course then you're depleting the super cool recycle grenades. I think it's safe to say I'm hooked but man this game is fucking hard, I am constantly dying from shit that I don't even see coming because my health is always so damn low.
