Very very enjoyable as a look into Bowie's early career which i knew almost nothing about. Kind of hurried a little in the end to fit in a shorter runtime, but it's just full of so much rare music and footage that it's so worth it. Anyone wit Showtime needs to watch this. letterboxd.com/v9733xa/film/david-bowie-finding-fame/

This was funny and a lot of fun. Not much more than that, and gets a little schlocky like a bad sitcom from time to time. Still, mostly hilarious and a feel-good time. letterboxd.com/v9733xa/film/good-boys-2019/Well-acted, beautifully shot, and with great jazz music, a meandering story that goes nowhere and reveals nothing really hurts this biopic about Joe Albany and his heroin addiction. A disappointment. letterboxd.com/v9733xa/film/low-down/

Once upon a time in Hollywood!
Loved it! Didn't feel like it was an almost 3 hour movie.

Oh fucking tremendous documentary, one of the best of the year. Man, docs are killing narrative films in 2019, it's really not even close. Like seven or eight 9/10s in documentaries this year, easily. letterboxd.com/v9733xa/film/mike-wallace-is-here/

A very different film in a lot of ways, but doubles down on the unbelievable action and mayhem. Still, it's far too long and features some poor acting and dialogue. The unreal fights make it a must-see anyway. letterboxd.com/v9733xa/film/the-raid-2/

John C. Reilly was the only consistently funny thing in this movie. Dumb, yet tolerable and fun at times.

So so SO good, Howard Hawks is just a can't-miss director. Still incredibly funny and fresh even today. Blazing fast cracking script with reckless abandon, joke after joke after joke. Man. letterboxd.com/v9733xa/film/his-girl-friday/

I watched a few more films from the David Lynch season at my local indie cinema, namely Blue Velvet (5/5), Lost Highway (4/5) and Mulholland Drive (5/5). So good to see these on the big screen, especially now that I understand Lynch a lot better compared to when I first watched these films around 10 years ago. Also went to a back to back screening of Terminators 1 and 2. One thing that struck me on watching the first one again was how it almost feels like a slasher movie early on. Some of the special effects have aged badly across both films but for me it just added to their retro charm. 4/5 for both. And a few first watches: Such an interesting character and a really creative approach to storytelling. The production design was stunning. 4.5/5 A typically brilliant character study/drama from Almodovar. Antonio Banderas gets better with age. 4/5 I wanted to enjoy this more than I did. Friedkin, who made The Exorcist and The French Connection, directing Al Pacino in an 80s detective thriller with slasher and giallo influences. Sadly the story just didn't grab me at all. 3/5 Watched this off the back of the Joker trailer. It's typically well made from Scorsese, and De Niro's character is intriguing enough, but I felt like it was lacking something in the way of entertainment. 3.5/5
