I somehow just can’t keep from starting new games on Dark Souls Remastered on my Switch. I really need to move on to other games, but it’s this weird addiction level I’ve reached which doesn’t allow me to move on, as no other game I touch feels satisfying. I’m beginning to think that my level of interest in gaming is just diminishing very quickly because it’s hard for me to start a new game and stay glued to it until completion. I started multiple games recently, and lost interest quickly.
Tekken 7: I put in 3 hours and put it away forever, despite loving the series in the past Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition: Never in my life have I started a FF game without finishing it (well, outside of the weird Crystal Chronicles game for GameCube), but I put in about 15 hours on this one and it never held my interest. Zelda, Breath of the Wild: I put in about 20 hours, and it just didn’t stick with me either. I found the gameplay to be unfun quickly, and the varying levels of depth and lack of depth to the game and its details caused me to never keep a steady interest. Super Mario Odyssey: I think I’m going to try to start this one again, but I started it and it just didn’t have any magic like Super Mario 64 did for me. 64 was a monumental release though, and this wasn’t really, despite incredibly favorable reviews all over the place.
Surely I’m not losing interest in gaming, but nothing I start sticks with me other than replaying old games. Far Cry 3 is still fucking amazing, and I’m almost finished with it on my PS4. I hope Far Cry Primal will be something I can stick to, since I also got it on sale a couple of weeks ago or more.

See, I go through swings like that as well, but in my case, it’s because I’m playing too much or I just finished a massive game and I need a break. Maybe possibly you’re going through the same thing?

If any PC gamers are interested. Downloaded a program called Intelligent Standby List Cleaner (ISLC). Very handy for when games have stuttering or you notice your memory going wild. Pretty much just set a limit depending on your RAM and run it prior to booting a game up. Works wonders for me with BFV, I purge it after every round or when my game gets super laggy despite having 16GB RAM.

Anybody watch the latest Nindies presentation the other day? Any games from it that you’re looking forward to?

They’re 20-30 min. presentations, and yup, you can find them on Nintendo’s YouTube channel.

You never know the true value of things you have until you live somewhere where it’s not allowed. Lol

I just finished Far Cry 3 last night. Damn, I really do believe it’s the greatest the series has to offer. I’m a huge fan of the series but 3 is so detailed and jarring in a way unlike the more recent titles. 2 was also awesome, but I don’t like when games give you a character with an annoying flaw like malaria or something in a way that you randomly have to search for a vaccine for your ailments. I also found that annoying with Dead Rising 2, which was fun to play, but if I remember right, you had to always be mindful of your daughters health which took away from freely smashing zombies for fun.
Anyway, my Trials Rising finally downloaded! Starting that tonight! While I play it I’ll begin downloading Far Cry Primal as it’s the last one I haven’t played but I bought it a couple weeks ago or so.

Yo Calvinball, are load times in Trials Rising ridiculous for you? I’m playing on PS4 Pro, and every new level I start has a load time that seems to extend over a minute on most occasions. It’s overwhelming. My feeling is that maybe it’s not as bad for people who live in areas with better internet because admittedly internet here sucks (I know because in Arizona my wifi was damn near perfect and download speeds were literally 10x faster than here) and it seems that any level I start maybe it’s doing some matchmaking or something? Not sure but it’s my feeling that what I perceive as online competition for completion times in the visual form of ghosts of other players is causing a slower loading screen. Paired with my piss-poor wifi, it’s a bad mix. I love Trials, and this game is great. I just can’t stand the long loads. If I was playing on a regular PS4 I’d be a little more accepting, but I can’t believe that on my PS4 Pro it’s still so slow...not like this game is graphically taxing or anything. I played for the first time last night, advanced to level 20 or so, unlocking the second bike. Feels great, although it feels like it’s easier to find yourself big air-time in this game in comparison to Trials Fusion. Not sure if that’s a positive, negative, or what...just an observation. Physics may have been ever so slightly tweaked. Bikes felt slightly heavier in Fusion to me.

I've noticed the load times and it's something the community has talked about to, I don't know if it's better or worse for you due to your connection but I wouldn't be surprised. I haven't had the chance to play in about a week thanks to work, but I'm waiting to unlock the next round of tracks which is kind of annoying when I have everything on gold. My only experience with trials was when I briefly tried playing risings on Xbox with a Scuf controller with trigger stops for FPS games. Meaning I was trying to play the whole game at half power and didn't realize it >.< one of my dumbest gaming moments lol. It's much more enjoyable with full power.

Playing without full trigger power is quite different! Of course, it could also work well in some tracks. There are some tracks with mostly big spine jumps and small gaps in which over gassing can cause you to finish slowly. You probably noticed that though. I’m feeling pretty sure about my slow internet causing slower loads now that I got a second day into it. Opening gear boxes is frustrating because most times I’m staring at a screen with a bouncing box that never opens and I’ll wait for it to open for two whole minutes just to see that “Couldn’t connect or lost connection to Ubisoft server.” I end up having to try again and again just for a single stupid crate which contains more items I already have. Lol oh well...

Lol oh well... Finally got to 48 by farming collectables! Haven't played in a week and holy shit the skills are rusty lol. Still having fun with this game even though it crashes on me once or twice a night, but that just may be a PC thing since I'm doing things on multiple monitors and playing with an Xbox controller. The soundtrack is really cool too but I turned it off because every time I'd be halfway through a dope Bouncing Souls or Sum 41 song the track would end and something random would start, started playing my library on shuffle instead. Can't wait to tap into my new tracks tomorrow!

Calvinball yes, the soundtrack is pretty decent, and is the first time Trials used licensed music tracks. I was always hoping they’d do that because I hate electronic tracks dominating a game. Too bad Trials Rising has this big tracklist but it somehow tends to replay a lot of the same songs as opposed to going through the whole playlist frequently. Like a very particular shuffle feature which can’t be edited. About to pull out my Marshall speaker and play music while I play the game. Lol

Even the original is a bad ass game, but 3 definitely set the bar high. I feel like they didn't really improve after 3, instead kept bringing the same formula back and it got really stale. I do, however, want to finish Primal as I just re-downloaded it last week. Love the setting so that's the main reason why I wanna plow on through. Ubi has great games, but they always come to a halt for me and I hate it lol.

Maybe before next Monday it will be ready and then I might start it since the Trials Rising experience is so slow-paced that I don’t always have the patience for it due to it’s forced multiplayer functions.
