www.billboard.com/amp/articles/news/obituary/8547788/neil-peart-dead-rush-drummerIt was announced today that longtime drummer and main lyricist for the Canadian prog rock trio Rush, Neil Peart, has passed away after a 3 year battle with brain cancer. Fuck, but this hits hard. Over the years Rush grew to be one of my favorite rock bands of all time, due in no small part to Peart’s incredibly varied and at times emotive drum work. Implementing different styles and methods into his playing, it was always a treat to listen to whatever he brought to Rush’s creative table. RIP, Neil Peart, you will be missed so very much.

There's a great documentary about Rush on Netflix that anybody who hasn't seen definitely should watch.
It's called Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage. Very much worth checking out.
R.I.P.

Wow. He’s a drumming legend. Ashamed to say it, but likely an artist who I will get to know better after death. Never was a huge fan of Rush, but there is a growing interest, I suppose. Nevertheless, Neil is frequently listed in top lists of drummers in the field, and through some of those videos I have seen his work. He no doubt influenced a ton of drummers out there. Tough day. RIP
