Hey all,
It's that time of year again where I start analysing the films i've enjoyed most over the course of the year and start trying to watch as many 2019 releases as I can to stick out a top 10-20 by the time the year is out. Anyone got theirs to share already?

Mine so far is looking like this:
Green Book Dragged Across Concrete The Standoff at Sparrow Creek Toy Story 4 Midsommar John Wick 3: Parabellum Marriage Story The Irishman Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood Burning
UK has different release dates to y'all so Parasite won't count til 2020 as it gets released here in Feb

Feel like I need to add Luce to my list of films to watch by the end of the year now. Annoyingly Pain and Glory isn't out on DVD until January so I won't catch that this year. Same goes for The Farewell.
Queen and Slim and A Hidden Life are both 2020 releases over here as well.

Here's my list... 10. Ad Astra
Everyone knows I love space and shit, so I was always going to enjoy this a lot.
9. Pain & Glory The combination of Almodovar's storytelling and Banderas character was just perfect.
8. The Lighthouse The remote island setting was so well executed and I loved the art style. Obviously Defoe and Pattinson were brilliant too.
7. Midsommar Genuinely fucked me up.
6. Marriage Story Really moved me. Some of the set pieces were instant classics.
5. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood I went into this thinking I'd had enough of Tarantino but it was the most fun I had at the cinema all year.
4. The Irishman File under 'classic mob movies'.
3. Parasite Unpopular opinion but I think Memories of Murder is the better film.
2. So Long, My Son Maybe some recency bias here but I saw this last week and was blown away by it.
1. The Farewell I find it hard to explain, but this film made me feel a lot of things and I came away thinking differently about the world afterwards.
Honourable mentions:
The Last Black Man in San Francisco, The Forest of Love, Booksmart, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, and Paddleton.
There's still a bunch of films I need to see that haven't been released here yet or I just haven't got round to. I think there's a few that could break my top 10 or at least make the honourable mentions list: Portrait of a Lady on Fire, 1917, Weathering With You, A Hidden Life, The Souvenir... I'll try to check out the films in everyone else's lists.
It's been a pretty good year for film.
