I suppose just dancing or generally jumping around like a maniac would be classed as other. But as far as actual moshing goes then hardcore all the way. That pushing and shoving shit really fucks me off.

"Other" vote for "i don't go to concerts because they scare me." Lol I don’t know about you, but despite how metal-nerdy I am, I have never been to a metal/hardcore/whatever show before. In part, yes because the whole moshing thing is a bit scary to me. Secondly, I’m too concerned about my ears, because I depend on them so much as a violinist, and once the hearing starts to drift away, so will my playing ability. But seriously, what is appealing about a mosh pit? I want to go to a show to enjoy the music, not get in a fight. I guess I’m forever only appropriate for attending the symphony. That’s alright. At least I won’t get in the middle of a big fight, unless of course the violence that ensued after Rite of Spring occurs again sometime. Hahaha

I find hardcore dancing to be the most entertaining to watch (from my safe position at the back of the venue).
Ironic that the site is called The Daily Mosh but nobody here actually likes moshing.

I prefer standing towards the back/off to the side and listening to the music and watching the performance more than I’d care to mosh.

"Other" vote for "i don't go to concerts because they scare me." But seriously, what is appealing about a mosh pit? It's all about losing your mind in a healthy way. Hardcore dancing all the way. I love it. Keep it clean to the others and fun for everyone, but nothing wrong with getting it a little rough. Some of the best shows I went to were the ones where you really had to look out.

Plus the adrenaline. Even if you don't mosh, just being near people throwing their fists/feet around definitely gets the adrenaline going for me.
(was just saying this in the general discussion thread, but I feel like I'm too old for pits now, especially the idea of being crowd killed)

It depends on the band/music as well. If I'm going to see Arkangel, Six ft Ditch, Bulldoze or something alike, I'm waiting for high tension and lots of madness. But at a Turnstile show, I'd love the moshpit to be friendly fun. All hardcore dancing, but far from the same.
