Planning on finishing my Star Wars rewatch tonight ahead of the new one coming out. Tomorrow I'm going on an owl handling experience (yes) and on Sunday I plan to watch a lot of football. Soooo...... Should I cheer for Arsenal just to tick you off?

Should I cheer for Arsenal just to tick you off? I wouldn’t blame you to be honest, everyone loves an underdog. It would be a new low for this season if Ljungberg’s Arsenal turn us over.

My weekends have become predictable and repetitive. Teach violin lessons in Shanghai over the weekend, spend time with my wife and kid, as well as her parents. However, tomorrow I will get to experience a brunch buffet at the Marriott down the road where we had our wedding back in 2016. The catch is that I will be eating with her dad, not my wife...booo. But the food is amazing, so I’m stoked. Buffets in US are hit and miss, but I thought mostly miss. Here in China, so far I’ve only seen buffets as amazing, high class eating experiences of fresh and special dishes, so I’m going to try to clear room for it! Haha Sounds delicious! I’m there now. It’s fantastic. I’ve had three plates of ham, lamb, all kinds of fish, sashimi style salmon, beef, smoked chicken, crab, shrimp, Thai style flat noodles, fruit, veggies, and more. I fetched two “brownies” that turned out to actually be fudge brownies, then I got ice cream, and now I’m finishing off with a coffee from a very fancy machine. I also had several glasses of grapefruit juice. I keep saying I’m done, but I’ll probably go back up and eat more soon. Hahaha

Currently surviving at work from 3 hours of sleep since I went to see Loathe, Gideon, The Devil Wears Prada and Stray From The Path last night. Going home at 3 pm and sleep until 7 and then I have a birthday party. Tomorrow we got a staff party. Probably going to a christmas market and to some restaurant. Drinks are free so I'm going to take full adventage of that.

Hahaha Is there any food in China that are generally no-no from social point of view? E.g. eating beef in India. It’s an interesting topic. I can’t say I have full social awareness for the Chinese perspective regarding many things, but I do feel compared to other foreigners I work with, I am a better person to ask. I’ve found that some people have individual distastes but generally there hasn’t been anything socially unacceptable food-wise in the circles I’ve been in. Of course people can talk all day about how in China they will eat dogs, cats, and everything except for human kind. Well, that’s not totally true, but it’s also not false. Different areas have different food restrictions and taboos. The Guangzhou/Hong Kong area is the most adventurous place in the country food-wise, where the sentiment that only humankind isn’t served on the table truly is accurate. It is in this area that some of the most inhumane ways of eating occur, such as a eating live baby white mice (there is a twisted name for this “dish” which partly comes from the sound of the baby white mice as you chew it...it’s a horrible thought!). Also in this area is the place where they have tables with holes cut out so that monkey’s heads can fit into them. It is a delicacy in that region to cut open the live monkey’s head and eat its brains. Its body dances under the table as it writhes in pain. While this sounds awful (it truly is!), more than likely 95% of Chinese citizens think this is monstrous behavior. So yeah, food is definitely a strange topic for China, since in some way most things can be found on the table. I’ve eaten lots of odd things this semester. Various animal testicles especially... but the truly horrible things are mostly experienced in one small area of the country to which I don’t really have interest to travel.

Heading back to the hometown this weekend for the first annual Christmas Burns Red festival in Lancaster, PA. August Burns Red is headlining at the Chameleon Club on Friday AND at the convention center in downtown Lancaster Saturday and doing a beer release with a brewery they collaborated with in Gaithersburg, MD called Elder Pine on Friday.
So good IPA beer release with August Burns Red on the can, hella good Christmas music with other metal music mixed in played live plus hearing Constellations played in full, and seeing one of my fraternity brothers this weekend to mosh with at the festival - I'd say wins all around.
Plus festival lineup - August Burns Red, Knocked Loose, Miss May I, Currents, and Hawk among others so this will be pretty tight.

Should be a fantastic weekend! My family's annual Christmas party is Saturday night, we're all a super tight bunch so it's always a good time when all of us get together. Then Sunday getting together with some of my best friends and it's gun day! Starting off the morning at the shotgun range blowing up some evil orange circles, we MIGHT shoot pistols afterwards but that's looking less and less likely. In between all that I intend to watch as much of The Witcher as I possibly can.
One more day of work on Monday and then I'm off for the year!

Turning out to be a hit and miss weekend. Weather is not good in Shanghai, lots of rain and coldness.
But on the positive side, my student cancelled their lesson on account of sickness, so I’m more free today, and my wife’s coworker is having their wedding today, so I get to go and eat a bunch of nice stuff with people I don’t know, which is great because I can tune out and stare at my phone while I stuff my face! Haha
Tomorrow I’ll teach lessons from 9am-4pm, however. Less awesome.

Finished work for Christmas yesterday. I was expecting to feel super excited, but when I got home I felt more deflated than anything. Spent the evening eating pasta and watching the extended version of The Fellowship of the Ring.
Today I'm going to the match (City vs Leicester) and then making my way over to my parents' place for the holidays. Visiting a friend on Sunday for vidya and movies. And planning to make a start on The Witcher on Netflix in my own time.

Going for probably the last lead climbing of the year today, then finalizing Christmas gifts (hopefully). Tomorrow gonna spend quality time with my gf for the first time in a month because she was busy doing an HR course in the last month.
