avarice I feel like I haven't seen you post in a while, how is life treating you my dude? Hey dude!! Yeah I have been MIA for a while now. I’m in a great relationship, graduated college, still serving sports bar food and booze. Trying to climb my way up into an entry level position in the education industry and poor as hell, but otherwise life is great! Hope you’re doing well Corvyy This made my night! Glad to hear you're doing well dude! Best of luck on your academic-career goals!

Does anyone have any experience with CBD? A co-worker of mine says it's great for stressful days. I'm just mildly weary because my experiences with marijuana have pretty much all been negative, I'm all for legalization it's just not for me. I understand CBD isn't supposed to get you high or anything I'm just looking for perspective from someone who's used it is all.

Can’t believe how fast this week is flying by. This is a full week off from work for me due to National Day Holiday, October 1st. This year is a big one, the 70th year anniversary of China. While it is written about China being an incredibly old civilization and all, it was truly finally independent and able to claim itself the People’s Republic of China in 1949.
I remember being here the same time of the year last year as well. There is something sincere and real about the way the Chinese celebrate this important holiday. Everything about it seems incredibly heartfelt, and people are genuinely in the celebrating spirit of their country. To me it feels like a massive contrast from my US days, as I find celebratory spirits on Independence Day and all to generally be much lower, not to mention I was always surrounded by people who didn’t celebrate such holidays. Last year, I even recall shedding a tear watching the ceremony of raising the China flag in the morning. There is no mistaking the feeling. Chinese people genuinely love their country. It probably also helps that almost every Chinese is a deep supporter and loves their president. It’s quite impressive to me that he can garner this much love and support from the vast majority of the people. I guess what I’m expressing is that China has really left quite a deep imprint on me with this holiday celebration. I myself have never been particularly patriotic, but now I feel I have been missing something.
I’m not trying to stir any pots, I AM an American citizen afterall. I just had this on my mind. A journalist from the West was traveling here during this time and speaking on a television program about his feelings and experiences here during this time, as well as his memories of National Day back in 1999, the 50th year anniversary of China. His words resonated much with my feelings. He spoke of a realness to the devotion to the country people here have, as well as many other things. Sometimes I just wish it felt more significant in the US when we celebrate Independence Day, or other big ones.

His words resonated much with my feelings. He spoke of a realness to the devotion to the country people here have, as well as many other things. Sometimes I just wish it felt more significant in the US when we celebrate Independence Day, or other big ones. I watched a documentary on Netflix recently called American Factory, about a Chinese business trying to set up a factory in the US, and it really illustrated the difference between the Eastern and Western psyche. The patriotism you mention here is something that the Chinese employees seemed to feel towards their company too. The contrast between this and the American work ethic was stark and pretty hilarious at times. When I see this kind of blind patriotism, I can see how it contributes towards a high performing and functioning society, but I get really uncomfortable 1984 vibes. What makes us human and separates us from the animals is that we can think and act for ourselves. I wouldn't want to be part of a society where a ruling party has so much influence over my day to day life. Something else that really brought this home to me was the recent story about China killing detainees from a religious minority to harvest their organs: www.theguardian.com/world/2019/jun/17/china-is-harvesting-organs-from-detainees-uk-tribunal-concludesI found this utterly chilling, particularly because it has been going on for so long and nothing has been done about it.

Fucking Sonic Temple tickets are going on sale tomorrow, and they've literally announced one band for the entire 3 day festival. I'm sorry but if I'm going to spend that kind of money on a weekend field pass I need to know ummmm who the fuck is playing. Yes Metallica for two different sets is kinda cool, but I'm not a huge Metallica fan and seeing them would be a secondary priority.
I had an amazing time at this festival last year, but there was a lot of drama about ticket sale prices which kind of pissed off a lot of people who paid full price on the first day of ticket sales *like myself*. If the lineup is solid I really want to go again, it's hard to justify spending hundreds of dollars when there is no promise I'm going to enjoy the lineup, and might be able to get tickets for a fraction of a price in a few months when they are trying to make sure the fest sells out.

When it comes to thinking about moving to a new job, it always feels so freaking heavy. I have known that my goal is to have a teaching job in Shanghai instead of the neighbor city of Kunshan for a while, but this is my first school, first contract. I was just reached out to by an ex member and a current member of Shanghai Singapore International School now and they are hoping I am willing to break my current contract and come be the director of music studies for their entire school. Firstly, it sounds like way too much work (I only teach grades 1, 2, and 3 this year). Secondly, I’m an instrumental education specialist, not really an expert of general music, especially for young kids. Third, there are so many projects here in this school and in this community my hands are tied up with that I really have a strong desire to finish this contract. Fourth, not sure how it looks if I break my first ever contract, which will already be a messy process if done. Fifth, I strongly believe I can get two principals’ very favorable recommendation letters from these two years if I stay signed on. If I break contract, I doubt they will support me.
Damn... why does shit have to be so complicated...

Man that's a tough decision, but it shows how highly they thought of you to offer such a position
