Skinny pretty white girls singing weird Ukranian chants. Man, this is almost the kind of stuff you see at "Nordic pride" events that are in actuality pseudo-Klan rallies. Yikes.
That's quite awful, and then just when I didn't think it couldn't get worse, they start howling like wolves. But not, like, actual wolves, more like baby wolves that have had a leg or two gnawed off by a honey badger. Phew. I mean, percussion is nice, right? I kept waiting for the breakdown. I played it on 0.25 speed and it was actually a lot better. And then 2x speed was pretty funny. So i take it back, i kinda liked this.
Also, that was a very very good dog.
Anyway, let's have something completely different.
God, i love this song. This is DJ Cash Money and Marvelous Marvin, and it's already over 30 years old. I found this track from the X-Ecutioners turntablist retrospective record, Scratchology, and it's just the absolute perfect representation of when the DJ and MC owned the clubs in the late 80s and rocked with collabs like this. It's not so early like the crazy experimental stuff from Grand Wizard Theodore and Mixmaster Gee in the early 80s that were just nonsense stuff, figuring it out as they went along. By the late 80s, with Cash Money and 3rd Bass especially, this is the zenith of good hip-hop. There are a few remixes of this song, adding some more breaks and cuts, but I still like the original.

Yeah man that was a bangin tune. That sound and style was so fresh back then and the people making it all had their own individual voice and style. I find a lot of the modern hip hop and rap I hear now is just so homogenous, although the same could be said about most styles of musice too I suppose. This had heaps of groove too.
Speaking of groove...

That was really good. I was half expecting Wolfman Jack to come out of somewhere and announce the next guest on Midnight Special after finishing this track. Let’s keep the groove flowin’, shall we?

Commenting on Blood, Sweat, and Tears, because it was the one I was less familiar with. I love the singer’s timbre. Love the trumpet solo. In general, the brass presence is lovely. I would love even more of that. But overuse could also be cheesy, so I guess it’s used just right. I actually listened to it the day you posted it, tao, but I just didn’t have time to reply. Anyway, I like all three tracks you posted. Nice to hear one I was less familiar with, too. Jaguar- Axe Crazy. Just a fun, short song that I looped a lot when I first discovered it. Super fun song. Wish this band hadn’t fallen into obscurity.

Man if I was like 13 I'd have been all over this. But now a days I'm just not feeling it. I maybe overdid it on metal during my teenage years.
We've finally started actually learning this song in my covers band after 2 years of us only playing the first verse for a laugh as the drummer had learnt the groove. It's an absolute banger and the guitar solo is quite difficult to play.

Nice and simple jam there. I could enjoy playing along with that one. Kinda reminds me of some gigs I played as a violinist, when I recorded some violin tracking for some upbeat groovy songs. Probably not something I could listen to much, but definitely playing it is a whole different story, as I have found that being a performer and a listener of music are completely different things, and I generally enjoy performing nearly anything, whereas listening can be more hit or miss for me.
Here's a Candlemass song, which has a curiously hardcore riff section around 1:05, so it's not all quite what one would expect based on the first several seconds of the song. I've had this song on repeat a few times lately.
Oh, and pull up some lyrics with this one if you like. I found the lyrics really amplify the effect of this song deeply. Awesome lyrics.

Interesting song; I totally get what you meant by “hardcore riff”, and it does feel like an inspired choice for a doom band. I really liked how the production sounded, and the flow was good; the vocalist sounded like Tom Jones went power metal, and that kinda threw me off a little. Nice choice. Let’s start the new year off with a laugh, shall we?
Used to listen to him, Allan Sherman and “The Adventures Of Chickenman” all the time growing up.

Spike was really fun times. His level of creativity reeks of the older era of programming, which I still find a bit more charming than the over-produced masses today. Especially with me being a musician myself of the orchestra, there are lots of goodies and Easter eggs in his music to point out and get a giggle from. That was a really pleasant way to start the year on this thread, and a lovely reminder of more inspired music, in my opinion.
In continuing with the “funny” quality, I’ll post this one. Not a band or anything I’m aware of, just a really fun song.

Knock knock! Who's there? It's Corvus, bringing this thread back, if only for another post! stringypoo - that was hilarious. Lyrics landed really well, he kept it together despite being clearly amused. Crowd engagement helped him too - definitely dropped some about halfway but still great overall. Recording this in what looks to be a suit shop has me scratching me head but the mystery of the setting adds to the humor so I won't investigate. Good use of my 3 minutes!
Coheed & Cambria's "The Gutter" but the band sings it a cappella in a car. I found it impressive - increased my opinion of these guys.
