Just what this is about; taking v9733xa 's idea/suggestion and running with it. If this gets a good response, then we can go ahead and do "Modern-era" Metallica, i.e. from Load on to today.

I voted for Kill Em All. Not all of the album satisfies me greatly, but there are some great tracks on it, and "Whiplash" is my all-time favorite Metallica song.

I have to go with Master Of Puppets. It was the first record I listened to of them and it instantly hooked me. It was my daily companion during breaks in school.

Hate to not vote on Ride the Lightning, but Master of Puppets is a tad better.

Hate to not vote on Ride the Lightning, but Master of Puppets is a tad better. Took the words right out of my mouth. My thoughts exactly.

Can we please not do modern Metallica, please. Hahaha, right? I mean, I'd have to go with St. Anger just because it was so bad that it was good, like a dog so ugly that it's cute. Does anyone actually like any modern Metallica albums???

Well, their last album was surprisingly decent... To be fair, I didn't listen to all of it but found it was better than a majority of their later material. I should probably go listen to the rest of it sometime.

Never listened to Metallica properly. Don't think I ever will.

St. Anger has grown on me a lot, which is crazy. It has a couple really fun songs. Once you get over the garbage can lid drums, it's a cool listen.
Load and Re-Load have not, and i hardly ever listen to them.
The two most recent? They're not bad.

Ride and Master are pretty much neck and neck for me, but Ride always gets the edge. Refused to listen to them past Justice.

Old enough to remember when all of these came out (too young to remember Kill 'em all... but nayway...) . Saw the Justice tour in my early teens... loved me some Metallica back in the day.
Always thought Ride The Lightning was the overrated album. I voted for Kill Em All, just for the energy of youth on there, more in line with my hardcore ideals. Master Of Puppets just might be better i think,

Master of Puppets, with Kill 'em All being a close second.
