Gotta bring this thread back to life. I’ve got some fucking badass cover songs to share. Me not being a fan of Megadeth until a week ago, I had no idea their first record had two incredible covers on it. The first is their cover of “These Boots,” which is already one of my favorite non-metal songs of all time. I love that part before the guitar solo at the end where Dave Mustaine says with his funny growl/shout “Are you ready boots???” Three times and then he shouts “Start Walking” as he begins the guitar solo. Epic in a really cool way. Listened to that song three times this morning. Hahaha!
The other is the cover of Metallica’s “The Four Horsemen,” relabeled with the name “Mechanix.” I might like this version better than the Metallica one. Now, he did play on the Metallica recording as well, so maybe it doesn’t quite qualify as a cover, but I call it one.

Realm did what I think is one of the most impressive covers I’ve heard. They covered Eleanor Rigby in a high octane thrash style and that shit is badass! I’ll never listen to the Beatles the same again.

Candlemass covered a few Black Sabbath songs in their "Black Sabbath Medley" back in the late 80's, and I just discovered this track as I was listening to their 1988 classic album, Ancient Dreams for the first time the other day. Needless to say, I've looped this album, and especially this track, countless times since then. Messiah's vocals here are just outstanding, and I prefer him to Ozzy any day!

Some fun covers I’ve found along the way as I’ve been working through my lists:
This one you have to go to 13:00 to hear their cover of Primus’ “Too Many Puppies”
