- I got only one hour of sleep last night, as my son was struggling to sleep all night, and unlike him, I can’t just fall asleep in a sudden, so his 20-60 minute sleeps interrupted by crying kept me up real good...
- Also on top of that, had to get up at 4:45am to prepare to leave Shanghai to go to Kunshan.
+ My first day at work was today. A teachers’ day.
- a teachers’s day full of meetings.
+ Found out very informally during a big PYP meeting that my load for this year consists of only grades 1, 2, and 3! Not bad!
- Found out very informally during a big PYP meeting that my load for this year consists of only grades 1, 2, and 3...disappointment also followed the relief I felt when I found out I had a smaller schedule than I expected because I spent a lot of time this summer preparing class plans and ideas for grades 4 and 5 specifically. I was supposed to have grades 1-5 this year. Last minute changes like this suck.
+ Lots of interesting new teachers in the school this year, many from North America, but also significantly more from the UK, Australia, and New Zealand this year. Colorful cast.
+ Already the teachers seem to have a great sense of teamwork compared to last year, so I’m expecting this to be a great year.
+ Now that my work week begins, I will be away from Shanghai on weekdays, so I’ll actually be getting some quality sleep unlike when I’m taking care of the baby all night in Shanghai.
- My new school-provided apartment is fine, but currently the WiFi isn’t working. This means no Youtube, Netflix, Google or many other things for me because I never turn on my VPN while using data to avoid penalties that are more likely when combining vpn with data in China.
+ Big finish to the evening with a Paulaner Hefeweizen and a meal at this great Thai restaurant near my new place.
