I think one of the reasons most metal & heavy music fans love the genre so much is because of how heartfelt the content of the songs can get. What are some songs that you feel fit the same bill, but sit outside of the metal/heavy genre? The further off the mark, the better. Obviously I know there's a lot of sadboy pop punk and post hardcore out there, and those submissions are fine, but the further it falls from the scene's tastes the better for this thread.

Thanks for these guys - I'll listen to 'em all tonight when I get home. Keep posting if you think of anything else! The Interstellar soundtrack was a creative answer. Fitting, but not something I expected or would have thought of.

This might just be me...but one of my favorite rappers is Tech N9ne, and he does a good slow/emotional song pretty well. Here's a few.

If I'm bothered by something I don't like emotional music. I listen to reggae.

If I'm bothered by something I don't like emotional music. I listen to reggae. I don't usually slump into sadder or more downbeat music when I'm sad - more just melodramatic or stressed. It's cathartic if I'm somewhere on the north end of blue, not full on sad.
